Free Sanctuary Cities Coursework Example

Name Professor Class Date Sanctuary Cities A sanctuary city is a township within which undocumented immigrants are free from deportation. Therefore a sanctuary college can be defined as an institution where the local law enforcement does not entirely comply with the American’s ICE in expelling students from the school and removing them from the country. In such counties when an immigrant is caught by the police for either violating traffic rules or committing a low-level crime the officials cannot contact the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also, these cities do not allow application of municipal resources or funds. Usually, the decision to make a city sanctuary is not official; a town becomes so when it starts enforcing a local act or policy. A state that gradually puts limits to the assistance it offers to the federal immigration authority is likely to end up sheltering immigrants. The governor and president have the power to cut funding to a sanctuary city. A governor can withhold grant funding to a county intended to assist in paying for crime victim services and the veterans’ court. However, both the president and the governor cannot cut funding for education and healthcare in the sanctuary cities while withholding money for the police. Sanctuary cities break federal regulations as they prohibit law enforcing organizations from adopting policies that discourage enactment of immigration policies. Moreover, the existence of such states can harbor criminals who might be of threat to the security of America. An immigrant within a sanctuary city is free from facing the ICE even when he or she has committed a crime that has affected native citizens; this breaks the federal laws. It is, therefore, important to have legislation that prevents the establishment of more sanctuary cities and colleges. ...
