OT Theory Name Institute Affiliation OT Theory Occupational Therapy Theory (OTT) is an art that encompasses helping people in doing their daily activities that are worthwhile in regards to their well being and general health. Most people presume OT theory to be relating to career counseling, which is misconception since it does not focus on jobs. The approach seeks to understand those activities that give meaning to life. It helps people nurture essential skills required while conducting daily activities such as self-caring and spending leisure time. People who benefit from this treatment are patients who have had a stroke, developmental disorder, and those who have been victims of depression. OT therapists are found in hospitals, nursing homes, education facilities among other places. The organization of an OT is into three categories, namely model, paradigm, and philosophy. The philosophy technique has a fundamental belief. In the model organizing technique, there is a set standard that is used for comparison. Under paradigm, there is a common vision of the profession that outlines the extent of the practice. There is also another category of patients in a long-term setting in rehabilitation amenities or nursing homes (Cole & Tufano, 2008). The essential factors considered before arranging for a viable OT are social, physical and psychological abilities of a person. Therapists also examine an individual’s surrounding to make sure that he or she will be able to do daily activities safely and with ease. Frames of references use theories to direct appraisal and assessment for a practice. In OT it provides a foundation for practical application. They offer a platform for identifying relevant approaches which occupational therapists use to provide intervention. On the other hand models of practice are there just to mark the area of concern.
