It will impact all shareholders in different ways. The change is a bit tricky as it requires smartness in the use of “big data” that can help them improve patient outcomes as well as experience. With this payment system, health care will be less about risk and prestige and more about quality as well as price (DeJong 2016). This case applies in normal economic markets. The meaning of this is that the value-based payment is centered on value. It also calls for a reporting and measurement systems which are more uniform. However, the emergence of new technologies can help both patients and healthcare professionals to achieve different outcomes. Despite all the impacts that come because of the new payment system, there are disadvantages. Firstly, it can trigger anxiety among healthcare stakeholders which comprises health professionals as occupational therapy (DeJong 2016). The primary reason for the concern is that health professionals attempt to protect their legitimacy, practice domains and sources of payment. Apart from that, upstream providers, as well as bundlers, will be held accountable in cases of poor results (DeJong 2016). OT should respond by advocating for process quality measures instead of distant outcome measures for public reporting purposes and payments.
