As such, most patients prefer to take health insurance services to take care of their medical cost. However, there are instances when a patient can be denied coverage by the insurance provider after the healthcare provider has recommended additional time for treatment (Green, 2018). If the client is not able to meet the medical cost, the healthcare provider may be forced to discharge such a patient. As a health care provider, I have ever experienced such a scenario. I had a hip replacement patient who was supposed to undergo therapy for some time. Just two weeks after starting the treatment, his insurance company communicated and said that it would not be covering the patient anymore. This means that if the patient wants to continue with the treatment, he should meet the medical cost from his pocket. The first step I took in such a situation to help the patient is to initiate an appeal process by writing a note to the insurance company explaining why it is important for the patient to continue with his treatment. A patient recovering from a hip replacement surgery requires hip replacement therapy for him to be able to live with the new device. The importance of the therapy is to strengthen the muscles present in the hip area so that they can be able to hold the implant in place. If a patient fails to receive proper therapy within the recommended time, he might not be able to walk well ever again thus living an abnormal life. After my letter, the appeal process begins with having the patient file a complaint to appeal the denied services. The appeal will include all the paperwork including copies of the denial letter, medical bills from the healthcare provider and the medical records (Green, 2018).
