Patient Protection and Affordability Act Name Institutional Affiliation Abstract The Affordable Care Act brought some meaningful advantages to the health sector in the US. The program supports those patients who do not have a health insurance cover to have medical services in health facilities. Also, the program assists the patients whose health insurance covers are inadequate. In this case, the program assists both the uninsured and underinsured to have medical services in hospitals at low costs. Before the introduction of the program, many people in the United States were either underinsured or uninsured. As a result, most people did not enjoy quality healthcare in medical facilities. The patients who enjoyed quality health services in hospitals experienced high costs that left them financially deprived. Henceforth, the Affordable Care Act was meant to bridge the gap that existed between the provision of quality healthcare and high costs. The exposure of medical costs relative to income was found to be wanting before introducing the program. To some extent, the health care reforms have succeeded in raising the affordability of care for people having low incomes.
